Suptadhara waterfall in Sitakunda - Chittagong

Suptadhara waterfall in Sitakunda

Sitakunda eco-park from Chittagong district has two waterfalls, one of them is known as Suptadhara waterfall. This waterfall remains dormant throughout the year, except the rainy season. If you are there during rainy season then you'd be able to enjoy the beauty of the waterfall with full of water. Most of the time the waterfall is having 3 separate droppings over the rocks. But during a heavy rain pour they may be join all together. But during heavy rain it would be very risky to go there.

This water is coming from the Suptadhara waterfall.

To reach near the waterfall we had to do a trekking from the main road of Sitakunda eco park. It was around 30 minutes or more of walking so far I can remember. We've gone there during summer but didn't see any water. The streams were dry as well as the waterfalls. So we've decided to come back again during rainy season. It was a nice fun walking beside the pristine water stream of the waterfall. We could hear the sound of the waterfall from a bit far.

It was excellent to walk beside the water stream.

Suptadhara waterfall is not a massive one nor very tall. Also it doesn't have too many water as well. Best time to visit the waterfall is the rainy season (July and August in Bangladesh). After having a fun around the waterfall for an hour we've moved to the top of the waterfall. There was a narrow path that would lead us to the top. From my experience the top of this waterfall was more beautiful compare to the waterfall itself.

It was like a ground with white rock. Plenty of mini waterfalls and cascades. Plenty of mini pools where anyone can take a bath easily. Water was coming from different directions. We've had a relaxing sitting around there and enjoyed the beauty as long as we could. After enjoying the white beauty we've started to ride the mountain. We didn't know which way to follow, we just started to walk. It was tiresome, but it was really exciting. Also through out the trekking we have done lots of fun that worked as a refreshment for us. After around an our of walking we've come to the main road (where the cars use to drive).

How to go:

You have to come to the Sitakunda eco-park first. Read this article to find more how to reach there. From there it would be a half an hour of trekking. From the main road inside the park you have to follow the sign board (directing to follow right side from the main road). Once you find the water stream then just follow the source of the water. That would lead you towards the Suptadhara waterfall. GPS coordinate of the waterfall is (22°36'02.6"N, 91°41'16.9"E).
