Shahasradhara waterfall in Sitakunda

Shahasradhara waterfall is another waterfall from the Sitakunda eco park which is located at the Chittagong district. After visiting the Suptadhara waterfall we've gone to this waterfall. This waterfall is very easy to access as it is close to the top of the Sitakunda eco park. There is a stairway from the top of the park to the waterfall. So one just need to do a relaxing walk to reach near the waterfall. But beware, you've to do some hard work during your returning back.

The Shahasradhara waterfall is a narrow waterfall with having only a single dropping. The flow of the water is not the much heavy and it doesn't produce much noise either. This waterfall is the upper stream of the Suptadhara waterfall. There is a small pool at the base of the waterfall. Since this is easy to access that's why lot of people use to visit it and sometimes they are careless about the littering. When we've gone there during summer we didn't see any water in waterfall.

The waterfall can be seen from the top of the eco park (if anyone do not wish to climb down and up). Also we didn't find any path that would lead us to the top of the waterfall. For sure there is a path which local people might know. But as a tourists we couldn't find it. I'd love too see the photo of the top of this waterfall (if anyone has done it).

Shahasradhara is a Bangla word. In English it means thousand streams. Not sure why such name. May be at downstream it produces plenty of flow that's why it could be given such name. I've liked the name though. Best time to visit the waterfall is the rainy season (July to August). And of course the worst season would be the summer as there is no water at all. Decide yourself which one suits you!
