আমি আর আমার ছোট ভাই শখ করে গাছ লাগাই বাসায় ফুলের টবে... যেহেতু আমার বাসায় সুর্যের আলো পরেনা বললেই চলে, তাই কোনো গাছই আমার ভালো হয়না... একবার বেশ কিছু চারা গাছ লাগলাম এনে, কিন্তু আর বড় হয়না... আমার ছোট ভাই আশায় থাকে, একদিন ফুল ফুটবে... কিন্তু ওর আশা আস্তে আস্তে স্তিমিত হয়ে যেতে থাকে... একসময় গাছগুলিও মরে গেল... আমার এক বন্ধু আমাকে বুদ্ধি দিল, যেহেতু গাছ বেশী দিন বাঁচে না, তাই গাছে কলি আছে এমন কিছু ফুলের গাছ যেন আমি কিনে অনি... তাহলে কদিন পরেই ফুল হবে, আর আমার ছোট ভাইও অনেক মজা পাবে... তো আমি তখন যেই গাছটা এনেছিলাম তার নাম জানতাম না... পরে বন্ধুদেরকে দেখানোর পরে নিশ্চিত হলাম সেটা ছিল চন্দ্রমল্লিকা... আমার সেই গাছ টাও একসময় মরে গেছে, কিন্তু তার ফুলের কিছু ছবি রয়ে গেছে আমার কাছে... হালকা মেরূন রঙের সেই চন্দ্রমল্লিকার ছবি সবার জন্য দিলাম...

Chrysanthemum is a perennial flowering plant having approximately 30 species. This flower is often called as mums, chrysanths, etc. It belongs to the plant family Asteraceae. In Bangladesh, this is known as Chondro Mollika(চন্দ্রমল্লিকা). This flower is native to Asia and Europe. Chrysanthemum is the symbol for Japan's Royal family.

Maroon chrysanthemum

This plant can grow as bushy up to several ft. It used to generate new buds from the root accruing its growth. Propagation of this plant can be done using those buds or from seeds. Leafs are having multiple zigzags at both sides with tip. Growing Chrysanthemum is easy, but in my case it was difficult as I am not an expert. You can see the flowers from my plant didn't even bloom perfectly, as well as the color faded a bit. Basically its a maroon/red Chrysanthemum with bright yellow center.

Chrysanthemum is popular for decoration purpose. The durability of these flowers are longer than any other flowers. Also these flowers have lot of colors to provide flexibility during decoration along with making decoration lucrative. Wikipedia has more detail about this flower.
