Our today's flower is Caesar's Weed flower. It is common in Asian region. Botanical name of the flower is Urena lobata. This belongs to the plant family Malvaceae(Mallow family). It has several common names such as Flowered Chinese Burr, Congo Jute, etc. In our country Bangladesh, this is known as Bon Dherosh(বন ঢেরস), Bon Bhendi(বন ভেন্ডি), Bon Okra(বন ওকরা), Jongli Ghagra(জংলি ঘাগরা), etc.
Caesarweed is a perennial invasive weed plant that can grow up to 2 meters in height. Flowers of the plant are small and purple/pink/rosy in color. It has separated five petals. Ovary, filaments, stigma, etc are almost similar to other flowers from Malvaceae family. It's leafs are medium sized. Small fruits are having hooks around it and those allow to entangle with the cloths or body of animals easily.
This plant cannot grow under the trees or in shadow, also it doesn't like wet lands either. This invasive Jongli Ghagra(জংলি ঘাগরা) can grow very faster than its competitor nearby plants. As the flower of this weed is eye catching, some online shop are selling this plant for ornamental uses.
