Chora Kata(চোরা কাটা) - Chrysopogon aciculatus

তেন্দর কোনো উদ্ভিদ যদি থাকে, তা হইলো চোরা কাটা বা প্রেম কাটা. একবার কাপড়ে আটকায়া গেলে ছাড়ানো মুশকিল হইয়া যায়...

Well, this is a massive weed grass. Throughout our Bangladesh, this is profoundly available, almost everywhere. Starting from the roadside to any fields, unused land to bank of river or ponds. In Bangladesh, this is known as Chora Kata(চোরা কাটা), Prem Kata(প্রেম কাটা).

This grass is available at all season and never dies. It used to produce flower during rainy season. The grass itself is almost leveled to the ground(mat forming grass), but the flower used to be over a 20-30 centimeter stem. This inflorescence flower has a feather(or beard) like white portion at the bottom of each flower of flower cluster.

This flower has spikelet at the pinnacle of the flower. Whenever a pedestrian used to pass by, it used to stuck on their footwear. Since most of our playing fields are covered with this grass naturally, it's hard to walk over there by saving your footwear. And at the end of the day, you'll find thousands of flowery thrones stuck on your pant. Possibly this is a reason to call this as love grass :-)

This funny grass is known as Mackie's pest, love grass, creeper grass, golden false beardgrass, etc around the world. Scientific/Botanical name of the plant is Chrysopogon aciculatus and it's from the family Poaceae.

This invasive weed is almost impossible to eradicate. This used to spread using it's seeds and the roots. People are using the roots of the grass for medical purpose. Also existence of this mat formed grass around the riverbank and the pond-side can prevent collapse or slide.
