Places of Interest, district Sylhet

Sylhet is considered as the holy place from Bangladesh. This district has the Majar of "Shah Jalal"(after the name of this Muslim saint, the name of the district was Jalalabad before). This is also the divisional district from Bangladesh. Sylhet is situated beside the river Surma. Also River kushiara is another major river of the district.

This district is famous for the "Monipuri Shari" and other Monipur(A tribal from sylhet) materials. I'll suggest you to buy some from the "Lama bazar" of sylhet town. The sarees are having different types. The more the design, the more the price is. The price started from 600 taka and increase by 300 based on design.

Popular locations for visit:

If you are planning to visit the Sylhet, you can check the "places of interest", or "must see" items from the link Also if you visited any other places from Sylhet, that is not listed at my link, that case you can add that here as comment.

Where to Stay:

Since this is a divisional district from bangladesh, and most of the denizen from the town used to live at London and other European states, thus there you'll find several high class hotels for staying at night. Hotel Roseview International is a five star hotel from Sylhet. But to minimize my cost, I have stayed at Hotel Supreme at Mirabazar. An AC room is for two is 1150 taka, and a non-AC room for two is 850 taka.

Hotel Supreme

How to reach:

Sylhet has the most sophisticated highway from Bangladesh. Its only take 4 hours to reach Sylhet from dhaka(if no traffic jam at dhaka). I'll suggest you to take the last bus, so that its around 4-5 at morning, and you don't need to stay for long at bus counter. There are several quality bus services are available. For AC bus, you can take greenline, shohag. For non AC, you can take Shayamoly, Unique.
