I have posted an article about Dhaka Christian Cemetery at my post http://icwow.blogspot.com/2010/04/dhaka-christian-cemetery-wari.html, now I'm continuing from my last post. I have talked about the graves and other stuffs at my last post. Now its time to show you another interesting portion of the Cemetery.
This Cemetery is around 400 years of old. At the right side of the Cemetery, you'll find several tombs, and large stone covered graves. All of them are several hundred years of old. Many of them are almost going to ruin. I have heard that one of the tomb is of Major General Hamilton Wetch of the Bengal Army, who died on the 11th June 1856. Also there is another one where lyes the body of Captain Borthwn, from East India Company, who died at 1769.
Its a different feelings when you'll visit the place. You don't know who the people lied here. Don't know whether they were good or bad. Even don't know where their offspring are now. You have no objection for their bad activities(if any), only have the praise for good works. Cause they are no more on earth. Even its been several centuries back when they last walked on the surface of the earth. May be from heaven they are watching you when you are near their tomb.
Also they cemetery comprises the graves of the soldiers who are died during the "Sepoy Mutiny" at Lalbag fort, during East India Period. May me somewhere near the tomb. But I didn't able to locate those. Most of the name plate of the tombs or graves of this parts are almost hard to read.
This is an ancient place, and our country should protect this place before everthing over. Please watch the below photos, it will give you an idea about the ruins.
If you have any information about the ruins of the Cemetery, please share with me. I'm interested to know more about this old tombs.
