The sun was almost going to down for the day. I was moving from the Lakkhi bazar to Bangshal using the roads Johnson Road, and English Road. At the right side of the road, I found the Cinema Hall, and instantly I just took a shot of the hall. Its a Centurian Cinema Hall from the Old Dhaka. Azad Cinema Hall was formerly known as Mukul Cinema Hall, later how and when the name changed, I don't know. The Hall is located just at the Johnson Road.

dhaka, azad cinema hall, bangladesh

This hall showed Calcutta Bengali movies and among them Suchitra-Uttam's 'Shilpi' and 'Pathe Holo Deri' glorified love to the endearment of the values of the time. At old Dhaka, that time this hall has played predominant role for the entertainment for the localities. In 1931, The Last Kiss was released in Mukul (now Azad) cinema hall. Distinguished historian Dr Ramesh Chandra Majumdar, Professor of Dhaka University, inaugurated the premier show of the film.
